Central Lake Aquatics Group Lessons & Testing

The Aquatics Department encourages all new participants who want to enter our swim program, but are questioning their level, to have their child tested prior to swim lessons.  This is free to all participants who are registering for our swim classes.  Please to call the Aquatics Department to set up a day and time for testing.

Private/Semi-Private Lessons  

Taught by our caring coaches, these lessons allow an individual to learn at his/her own pace.  Must be 3 years or older.  All fees are based on 30 minutes for private lessons and 40 minutes for semi-private.  Semi-private fees are based on two people at the same swim level.  Price listed is per child.  Make-ups for missed lessons are at your instructor's discretion and not guaranteed.


Adult Aquatics Classes

Active Adult Aqua-Combo

This class is dedicated to the individual that wants a high powered workout achieving better health through water exercise.  This class will help you improve your cardiovascular system while enjoying the benefits of weight reduction and body definition.  Swimmers and non-swimmers welcome. This very popular program absolutely requires registrations and classes fill quickly.

Water Aerobics

This medium to low impact water exercise is for anyone that want to improve their cardio and enhance their body tone.

Friday is a Seniors (60+) only class and is free to all in the community. Registration is mandatory for this class and space is limited. 

 


Turtle and Jr. Turtle Swim Teams

Junior Turtle Swim Team (ages 6-14) -

This club is designed for those wanting the experience of the TurtleSwim Team, but without competition.  This program focuses on the four competive strokes, flip turns, and refining swim strokes.  It will improve swimmers' technique, ability and endurance.  Must be at least Minnow A level for this swim club.

Friday   5:30 - 6:30 p.m.

$175 Members        $250 Non-members

Turtle Swim Team (ages 7-14)

For the experienced swimmer who is looking for more of a challenge than our regular swim classes.  Taught by our caring and experienced coaches, this program will enhance your speed, coordination, technique and ability. Must be at least Fish level for this swim club. Our swim teams will compete in the Chicago Metro League. 

This summer we will be splitting the team up to allow for you to pick a time that is most convenient for you. Saturdays will be dry land practice/training for all teams. We will also be participating in the Northern Illinois Swim Conference with meets being held on Wednesdays. Meets will be for Turthles and Jr. Turtle Teams.

Silver Team
Mondays, Wednesdays & Fridays 6:30-7:30 pm

$600* Members only -
due to YMCA league participation rules, all participants must be Members of the Central Lake YMCA

Gold Team
Mondays & Wednesdays 7:30-8:30 pm
Saturdays 12:00-1:00 pm

Green Team (By placement only)
Mondays & Wednesdays 6:30-8:30 pm

Fridays 6:00-7:30 pm

Saturdays 12:00-1:30 pm

$800* Members only - due to YMCA league participation rules, all participants must be Members of the Central Lake YMCA

*Pay up front and save $50 or Pay in 3 installments. (Fall 1, Fall 2 and Winter session registrions.) Does not include Junior Turtles

If you are unsure of your child's level, please call the Aquatics Department to schedule an appointment to have your child tested before registration.  Practices may be 2-3 times week.


Special Needs Swim (Dolphin Club)

 Dolphin Parent/Child Lessons (ages 12-36 months)

Parents and their child, participate in music and water activities to facilitate their child's comfort in the water, muscle strengthening, muscle movement, and beginning swim skills. An experienced Pediatric therapist will be in the water.

Fridays - 2:30-3:00 - $56

Dolphin Swim Club Lessons (ages 3-15)

Children participate in swim lessons with their peers. Caring, patient YMCA swim coaches facilitate swim skills, water safety awareness and water recreation activities. An experienced Pediatric Therapist is on site to support the individual needs of the child.

Fridays - $62

3:30 - 4:15 p.m.      Ages 3-6
4:30 - 5:15 p.m.      Ages 7-15

Dolphin Transition Swim Lessons

These lessons are for those who have graduated Dolphin Club Swim Lessons, but need a little extra support, will fit well in this group. The childten will be taught in small groups by the same caring, patient swim coaches that participate in the Dolphin Club swim lessons, however there will be no therapist on site. The children must be able to follow simple directions, be able to wait for their turn independently, and demonstrate good water safety awareness.

Wednesdays -  4:15 - 5:00pm - $62


Lifeguard Certification

Red Cross Lifeguard Certifications / CPR/First Aid Certifications

Must be at least 15 years of age.

This training will teach you:  1)Skills and knowledge to prevent and respond to aquatic emergencies; 2)CPR for the Professional Rescuer; 3)First Aid

Requirements - Participants must: 

  • Be at least 15 years of age by the last day of the course attended
  • Attend all training sessions
  • Successfully complete a pre-course screening session which includes the following:  swim 300 yards continuously using 3 strokes: 100 years of front crawl using rhythmic breathing and a stabilizing propellant kick; 100 yards breaststroke; 100 yards of either front crawl using rhythmic breathing, breaststroke or a combination of both; swim 20 yards (front crawl or breast stroke), surface dive to a depth of 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10-pound object, return with it to the surface, and swim back 20 yards
  • Perform all required skills with 100% accuracy
  • Pass a written test with a score of at least 80%.
